Kay Firth-Butterfield is a globally recognized lawyer, professor, and AI ethics expert. As CEO of Good Tech Advisory, she advises organizations on responsible AI governance. She was the world’s first Chief AI Ethics Officer in 2014 at Lucid.ai and served as Head of AI and Machine Learning at the World Economic Forum, shaping frameworks for ethical AI use.
A former barrister and part-time judge in the UK, she holds degrees from the University of Sussex (LL.B.) and St. Mary’s University (MA, LLM). She co-founded the Responsible AI Institute, contributed to the Asilomar AI Principles, and advises bodies like UNESCO and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
