Alondra Nelson is the inaugural Dean of Social Science and a Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. She is the incoming President of the Social Science Research Council. Nelson’s books include The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome and Body and Soul: The Black Panther Party and the Fight against Medical Discrimination.
She was a visiting fellow of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science and London School of Economics’ BIOS Centre. A contributor to national policy discussions on science and technology, she sits on the board of the Data and Society Research Institute and the editorial boards of Social Studies of Science and Public Culture.
