Katie Kitamura is an American novelist, journalist, and art critic of Japanese descent. Raised in Davis, California, she earned a B.A. from Princeton and a Ph.D. from the London Consortium. A former ballerina, she teaches creative writing at NYU and is an Honorary Research Fellow at the London Consortium.
Kitamura has published five novels: āThe Longshotā (2009), āGone to the Forestā (2013), āA Separationā (2017), āIntimaciesā (2021), and āAuditionā (2025). Intimacies, a National Book Award finalist, was among The New York Times' 10 Best Books of 2021. Her novels, translated into 24 languages, explore identity and morality through introspective narrators.
