Katharine Hayhoe is an atmospheric scientist and professor of political science at Texas Tech University, where she is director of the Climate Science Center. She is also the CEO of the consulting firm ATMOS Research and Consulting. Hayhoe is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Hayhoe received a degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Toronto, and her masters' and PhD in atmospheric science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her Ph.D. committee was chaired by Donald Wuebbles. Hayhoe has worked at Texas Tech since 2005.
