Kate Obenshain Biography

Kate Obenshain is a bold champion of amplified freedom. She is a regular guest on radio shows, CNBC and Fox News as well as an author, popular national motivational speaker as blogger. She established a leadership training program for women in Virginia in 2003 called the Jennifer Byler Institute. Obenshain gained national recognition as the first woman chairman of the Virginia GOP. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution verified her as a rising star in national politics while she was chair. She served as chief education and health policy adviser and chief of staff to Virginia Senator George Allen while he was governor. She promoted strategic accountability and budgetary reform as an appointee of Governors Gilmore and Allen on the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia from 1995 to 2000. Obenshain advises organizations, businesses and political candidates on messaging and media and on policy development in addition to her media work, writing and speaking engagements. Obenshain received Young America’s Foundation’s prestigious Torch of Freedom Award In 2005 and was also honored with the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute’s Conservative Leadership Award and has been promoted in six of the Institute’s popular annual calendars. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Steamboat Institute Board of Directors and for the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute as well as the Young America's Foundation's board of directors.
