Josh Lerner is a dual appointment professor in the Finance and Entrepreneurial Management Units at Harvard Business School, where he is the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking. He earned a Special Divisional Major at Yale College that merged physics with the history of technology.
He worked at the Brookings Institution, with a public-private task force in Chicago, and on Capitol Hill for several years on issues of technology innovation and public policy. He subsequently went on to Harvard's Economics Department for his Ph.D. studies. His study focuses on the structure of venture capital firms and their role in turning scientific breakthroughs into commercial goods.
