Their popularity had faded away by the time of 1994's Face the Music, and Knight was extremely quiet for several years following the group's eventual breakup.

Knight, like fellow New Kid alum Joe McIntyre, took advantage of a growing interest in teen-oriented boy bands (like *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys) to launch a solo career in one of the more unlikely music industry comebacks.

The single Give It to You was released in early 1999 and became a hit, paving the way for Knight's self-titled debut album later that year. Throughout the early 2000s, Knight continued to tour and make an appearance.

Even if Jordan Knight Performs New Kids on the Block: The Remix Album in 2004 was viewed as opportunistic behavior by some, he came back a year later with The Fix, an EP with an exciting adult contemporary feel.

In 2006, Love Songs, a selection of covers of classic romantic pop tunes, was released; it had a slight adult contemporary hit single in Say Goodbye, a duet with Debbie Gibson. Knight reconnected with New Kids on the Block for the 2008 album The Block, as well as a tour with the Backstreet Boys in 2011.

In the same year, he released Unfinished, his first collection of new pop songs in over a decade.
