Jonathan Goldsmith grew raised in New York and studied acting at Boston University. In 1966, Goldsmith relocated from New York to California in order to further his profession.
He, like many other aspiring actors, struggled to get enough acting work to make ends meet and ended up taking a variety of jobs to help make expenses meet, including driving a trash truck and working in construction. With 25 appearances in Western cinema, Goldsmith established himself as a leading man.
