He was a member of the Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Florida/Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Major League Baseball (MLB). In Taylorsville, Utah, he attended high school. Buck was selected in the seventh round of the 1998 Amateur Draft by the Houston Astros. On June 11, 1998, he was signed to a minor league deal.
