After ages of struggling as a professional musician and comedy performer, actor Joe Pesci was catapulted into the spotlight with his Oscar-nominated performance in director Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull, featuring Oscar winner Robert De Niro.
The film was the first of many successful collaborations between Pesci, De Niro, and Scorses.Though he settled into a few forgettable roles after his initial success, Pesci re-emerged afterwards in the decade with many memorable performances, beginning with his comic turn as mob accountant-turned-witness state's Leo Getz in Lethal Weapon 2, a role he reenacted for the franchise's third and fourth instalments.
