Jim Sciutto is an American journalist and CNN's chief national security analyst. A native New Yorker, he anchors “The Brief with Jim Sciutto" weekdays on CNN International and CNN+. With over two decades as a foreign correspondent, he has reported from more than 50 countries, covering conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.
Sciutto joined CNN in 2013 after serving as chief of staff to U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke in Beijing (2011–2013) and as ABC News' senior foreign correspondent in London. A Yale graduate and Fulbright Fellow, he has authored four books, including the 2024 New York Times bestseller “The Return of Great Powers" (2024). His awards include Emmys, the Edward R.
