NASA astronaut Jessica Meir is also a marine scientist and physiologist. She is renowned for having been one of the first women to take part in an all-female spacewalk, which she did on October 18, 2019, alongside NASA astronaut Christina Koch.
She is now serving as a flight engineer on Expedition 61 and 62 of the International Space Station, which is her maiden spaceflight. Meir worked as an assistant professor of anesthesia at Harvard Medical School before going on to become an astronaut. This was after completing postdoctoral comparative physiology research at the University of British Columbia.
