Jeremy Levin Biography

From May 9, 2012, to October 30, 2013, Dr. Jeremy M. Levin, D.Phil., MB, B.Chir was the Chief Executive Officer and President of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited. Since October 12, 2010, Dr. Levin has served as President of ZymoGenetics, Inc. Since September 2009, he has been the President of Medarex, Inc. Since 2010, he has held the position of Senior Vice President of Strategy, Alliances, and Transactions at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Since September 29, 2007, he has been Senior Vice President of External Science Technology and Licensing at Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. At Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research, Dr. Levin was the Global Head of Business Development and Strategic Alliances. In 2000, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Physiome Sciences after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Predix Pharmaceuticals Holdings Inc. Dr. Levin served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadus Pharmaceutical Corporation from 1992 to 1998 and as Managing Director of Perseus Capital LLC from 1998 to 1999. Prior to 1992, he was Vice President of IG Laboratories, a Genzyme Corporation fully owned subsidiary. He has extensive expertise in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries across the world. Ovid Therapeutics Inc. is his company, and he is the Chairman. He was the Chairman of the Board of Physiome Sciences Inc. from 1996 to 2000. From 1996 to 1998, he was Chairman of Cadus Pharmaceutical Corporation. Since January 2015, he has served as an Additional Independent Director at Biocon Limited. He is a member of the Biotechnology Institute's Board of Directors. Dr. Levin has been on the boards of the Biotechnology Industry Organization's Emerging Companies Section and Vialactia, an agricultural genetics company. Since September 2009, he has been on the boards of directors of Medarex, Inc. and ZymoGenetics, Inc. He was a member of the Predix Pharmaceuticals Holdings Inc. board of directors. From May 1998 until August 11, 2003, he was a Director of Orchid Cellmark Inc. Dr. Levin holds a doctorate (D.Phil) from the University of Oxford, as well as qualifications in clinical medicine from the University of Cambridge (MB, BChir). He has worked in internal medicine at universities in England, Switzerland, and South Africa.
