Jennifer De Leon is a best-selling Guatemalan-American author, educator, and speaker. Born in the Boston area to immigrant parents from Guatemala, she is a first-generation college graduate who explores themes of culture, race, identity, and belonging through storytelling. She is the author of the young adult novels “Don't Ask Me Where I'm From” (2020) and “Borderless” (2023), as well as the essay collection “White Space: Essays on Culture, Race & Writing”, which won the Juniper Prize. Her work has appeared in literary journals including Ploughshares and Iowa Review. De Leon serves as an associate professor of creative writing at Framingham State University and teaches in the Newport MFA program at Salve Regina University. A nationally recognized speaker, she works with schools and organizations on increasing belonging and the power of narrative.
