Jawed Karim is a Bangladeshi-German-American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur. He co-founded YouTube and was the first person to submit a video to the platform. Karim created many of the basic components of PayPal's real-time anti-internet-fraud system while working there, where he met fellow YouTube co-founders Steven Chen and Chad Hurley. Karim was born in Merseburg, East Germany, on October 28, 1979, to a Bangladeshi father and a German mother. In 1992, Karim and his family relocated to Saint Paul, Minnesota.
