James Steinberg is dean of the Maxwell School of Syracuse University and University Professor of Social Science, International Affairs, and Law. He previously served as deputy secretary of state for Secretary Clinton, dean of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, and vice president and foreign policy studies director at the Brookings Institution.
