James wasn't an endurance athlete growing up. In fact, at the age of 28, he barely managed to complete his first 5k. However, that setback increased his will to succeed and competitive spirit. He wanted to do something that his existing body said him was impossible. I vowed not to let my failure define who I am. James developed into a top-tier short-distance triathlon via years of dedicated training. Along the process, he discovered how to transcend his mental constraints and discover his real physical bounds. James embarked on a quest in 2010 to discover such physical constraints. By finishing 22 70.3 Ironman events in under 30 weeks—beating the previous record of 20—he established his first World Record. "I had to let the fire burn since there was one inside" James could have gone much further, but he did not. In 2012, he broke the previous record of 22 by finishing 30 full-distance triathlons in fewer than 52 weeks in 11 different nations, setting his second global record. James came to the realization that his mind rather than physical limits. "I knew I could accomplish more and aim higher" James went out to do a task that everyone had warned him was impossible, determined to push himself to the edge of his capacity for attention, dedication, and willpower. James had completed a rigorous, two-and-a-half-year training program before attempting this accomplishment. But his physical preparedness was insufficient to keep him going. James finished 50 full-distance triathlons in 50 states over the course of 50 days on July 25, 2015, defying all odds and misgivings (50.50.50). achieving what is today regarded as the pinnacle of human endurance.
