Humberto Fontova Biography
Humberto Fontova was born in the Cuban capital of Havana. In 1961, he and his five-member family sought to flee, but only four of them were successful. Humberto's father was imprisoned at La Cabana, the central firing squad where 2100 men and boys were killed. After three months, Humberto Sr. was liberated and returned to his family in New Orleans. Humberto was born and raised in New Orleans. He earned a Political Science degree from the University of New Orleans. Tulane University awarded him a master's degree in Latin American Studies. The Helldivers' Rodeo, an intense scuba diving and spearfishing trip was his debut book, published in 2001. Humberto participated in three episodes of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher shortly after the film's premiere, among other panelists Tom Green, Florence Henderson, and James Coburn. In 2003, he published The Hellpig Hunt, a hunting adventure set in the vast marshes at the Mississippi River's mouth. In 2005, he published Fidel: Hollywood's Favorite Tyrant, a political and emotional exposé' on Fidel Castro and the Western Hemisphere's sole totalitarian regime, a shift from his prior writings into a more political genre. This book is available in both English and Spanish. Exposing the Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him, his fourth book, was published in early 2007 and has now been translated into four languages. Humberto has been on shows such as Bill O'Reilly's The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity and Colmes, Fox and Friends, Glenn Beck, The Dennis Miller Show, and Telemundo's different programs. He is always on the move, speaking at various events and institutions around the country. Humberto also writes for Newsmax, Human Events, Frontpage Magazine, and a number of outdoor magazines, including Scuba Diver, Salt Water Sportsman, Bowhunter, and Boating Magazine. His essay, Why We Hunt, for Sierra magazine sparked the largest avalanche of hate mail in the magazine's history. He's spoken at David Horowitz' Restoration Week-End, the Horowitz Freedom Center, The John Locke Foundation, the Miami Book Festival, the Palm Springs Book Festival, Club Mensa's Annual Gathering, and a variety of other university events.
