Gregory Winter is a British biochemist and Nobel laureate renowned for revolutionizing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. Educated at Cambridge, earning a B.A. and Ph.D., he spent his career at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.
Winter developed techniques to "humanize" mouse antibodies, enabling drugs like Campath-1H for multiple sclerosis, and pioneered phage display for fully human antibodies, leading to HUMIRA, the first fully human antibody drug for rheumatoid arthritis. His innovations also contributed to cancer treatments like Herceptin. He founded Cambridge Antibody Technology, Domantis, and Bicycle Therapeutics.
