Gregg Berhalter joined FC Zwolle of the Netherlands in 1994. Later in his career, he played in the Bundesliga for Sparta Rotterdam (1996-98), Cambuur Leeuwarden (1998-1999), Crystal Palace (2001-02) (with Jovan Kirovski), and Energie Cottbus (2002-2006). Berhalter debuted for the US national team against Saudi Arabia on October 15, 1994. He has been capped 37 times as of 2005.
Berhalter was a key player for the United States at the 2002 World Cup, filling in for the injured Jeff Agoos and starting the final two games.
