Gillian Flynn is an author, screenwriter, and producer renowned for her dark psychological thrillers. Raised by educator parents, she earned degrees in English/journalism from the University of Kansas and a master’s from Northwestern University’s Medill School. She worked as a film and TV critic for Entertainment Weekly for a decade before being laid off in 2008 and turning to fiction full-time. Her debut, “Sharp Objects” (2006), won two Dagger Awards. “Dark Places” (2009) followed, but “Gone Girl” (2012) became a global phenomenon and #1 New York Times bestseller. She wrote the Golden Globe-nominated screenplay for the 2014 David Fincher film starring Ben Affleck.
