Gerard Braud, CSP, Fellow IEC (Jared Bro) is a global expert, coach, trainer, author, and expert speaker with experience working with businesses on 5 continents. He is widely recognized as a specialist in crisis communications and media difficulties and is known as the man to call when it all goes wrong. Since 1979, Gerard has worked in the field of communications. He was a front-line journalist for 15 years, covering every sort of calamity conceivable in print, radio, and television. His affiliate reports have aired on NBC, CBS, CNN, and the BBC throughout the world. Since 1994, Gerard has focused on media training, crisis communications strategies, and employee-manager training to help businesses communicate more successfully. Following the events of September 11th, he was tasked with writing the Internal Revenue Service's crisis communication strategy for its 800 locations around the country. The Library of Congress, the United States Army Missile Defense Command, a slew of municipal, state, and county governments, multinational companies, national merchants, national and international non-profits, hospitals, and a slew of colleges and institutions all employ his designs. Gerard has an uncanny ability to anticipate and forecast catastrophes before they occur. He foretold the terrible damage that would befall New Orleans fifteen years before Hurricane Katrina in a series of award-winning investigations titled "When the Big One Hits." For two years previous to the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings, Gerard cautioned that most colleges' crisis communications strategies were weak and would fail when it mattered most. Gerard graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) with the National Speakers Association and a Fellow of Environmental Communications with Loyola University New Orleans' Institute of Environmental Communications, where he is an adjunct teaching member.
