Gary Patterson, a former professional football player, has been coaching the squad at Texas Christian University for over two decades. He has also worked as an assistant coach for Kansas State, Tennessee Tech, UC Davis, Cal Lutheran, Pittsburg State, Sonoma State, Oregon Lightning Bolts, Utah State, Navy Midshipmen, and New Mexico.
Patterson has won a Conference USA championship, four Mountain West Conference titles, and a Big 12 championship with his teams. Two-time AFCA Coach of the Year, two-time AP Coach of the Year, two-time Eddie Robinsons Coach of the Year, and several additional honors are among his achievements.
