Gady Epstein is the media editor. Prior to that he took over as Beijing bureau chief of The Economist in 2014. In that role and before that as China correspondent since 2011, he has written about politics and society, with special interests in inequality, public policy and the internet.
Previously, he served as Beijing bureau chief for Forbes for four years. He began covering China and Asia, with a sub-specialty in North Korea, in 2002, first as Beijing bureau chief for The Baltimore Sun, then as international projects reporter for the newspaper.
