His articles and op-ed pieces have appeared in the American Sociological Review Public Opinion Quarterly The New York Times the Los Angeles Times and many other publications. Dr. Newport is 2010-2011 president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research.

He is also vice-president of the National Council on Public Polls and serves on the Board of Directors for the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. He has served on the University of Michigan Program in Survey Methodology External Advisory Committee. Dr.

Newport is a frequent guest on radio and television programs discussing public opinion and the collective views of the American people.
