Fran Harris Biography

Fran Harris is a former professional and college basketball player who has won titles in high school, college, and the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Harris played basketball at The University of Texas, where she captained the team that won the national title in 1986 and led the team to the NCAA's first ever unbeaten season, winning 34-0. Harris was a member of the 1985 USA National Jones Cup Team, the 1986 World Championship Team that won Gold, the 1987 USA Women's Pan American Team that won a gold medal in Indianapolis, Indiana, and an Olympic Team Alternate in 1988. Harris went on to play professional basketball in Italy and Switzerland after graduating from college. She later played in the WNBA for two years. She played for the Houston Comets in the league's debut season. She started one game for the Comets but appeared in 25 games off the bench, scoring 104 points as the Comets won the first-ever WNBA Championship. She was a starter for the Utah Starzz the next season. Harris hosted Home Rules, a transformative television series on HGTV, in 2010. She is a current ESPN family of networks announcer, serial entrepreneur, and author who has been on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNBC, CNN, Oprah's Radio Network, NPR, The Tavis Smiley Show, and several other television and radio networks.
