Finally, the United States Congress determined that the bank had “exposed the United States financial system to a wide range of money laundering, drug trafficking, and terrorism funding risks.” In late 2012, HSBC agreed to pay a record $1.9 billion in fines to US regulators, thanks in part to Stern's efforts. Stern's commitment to combating dangers to the US did not end with his time at HSBC. Stern has run for the United States Senate in Pennsylvania in recent years and created Tactical Rabbit, which conducts sophisticated private intelligence operations on behalf of customers. He also created Rabbit Capital Management, a hedge fund committed to investigating fraud and money laundering activities that support terrorist and drug cartel financial requirements. He's been featured in hundreds of news articles and programs, as well as a Netflix documentary on Wall Street and corporate corruption called "Dirty Money." Stern was born in the city of New York. He holds a bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University and a master's degree from Stetson University.
