Eric Klinenberg is an American sociologist, urban studies scholar, and bestselling author specializing in culture, media, and social infrastructure.
He holds the Helen Gould Shepard Professorship in Social Science at New York University (NYU), where he directs the Institute for Public Knowledge and has affiliations with the Wagner School of Public Service, Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, and School of Global Public Health. Klinenberg earned a B.A. from Brown University and a Ph.D. in sociology from UC Berkeley.
