Emily Pilloton was dissatisfied as a young designer by the lack of meaningful employment in the design field. Even ecologically friendly design was insufficient. People were starting to talk about sustainability more in graduate school, but she felt it needed a human element, she said. Is it possible to call $5,000 bamboo coffee tables "sustainably made"?
Pilloton launched Project H at the age of 26 after becoming convinced of the ability of design to transform the world. The goal was to assist build effective design solutions for those who needed them the most.
