Edward James Olmos, an American actor, director, producer, and advocate, was born on February 24, 1947. He has gained recognition for his noteworthy performances as Lieutenant Martin "Marty" Castillo in the television series Miami Vice (1984–1989), William Adama in the re-imagined version of Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), Detective Gaff in Blade Runner (1982) and its sequel Blade Runner 2049 (2017), and as the English dub voice of Mito in the 2005 Disney dub of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Additionally, he directed and starred in the 1992 film American Me and received an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of teacher Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver (1988). From 2018 until 2022, he played the role of a father to two members of an outlaw motorcycle club in the FX series Mayans MC
