Dr. Dorothy Martin-personal Neville's narrative is captivating, and she makes it a point to share it as part of her job. Dorothy was abandoned at birth in the South Boston housing projects. She was reared in an orphanage until she was three years old, when her biological mother and stepfather, a cop and a physically violent alcoholic, adopted her back.
She was left outside in a playpen for 16 hours a day, year-round, even though New England's harsh winters, for the first three years following her adoption. Even in the face of adversity and a lack of positive role models, she believed she could accomplish and be anything she desired, and that dreams were the path.
