David Rohde is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times. He has covered the conflicts in Afghanistan Pakistan Iraq Israel-Palestine Kosovo and Bosnia. He is most well known for his experience of being kidnapped and held hostage by members of the Taliban in 2008.
After being held captive for eight months in June 2009 Rohde and one of his associates escaped and made their way to safety.He is currently an executive editor of newyorker.com. He is also a global-affairs analyst for CNN and a former reporter for Reuters the New York Times and the Christian Science Monitor.
