David Owen has been a staff writer for The New Yorker for twenty years. He has written more than a dozen books, including "Green Metropolis," which grew out of a 2004 essay in which he made a case that the greenest place in the United States is New York City. His other titles include "High School" (about a semester he spent posing as a high school student), "None of the Above" (an exposé of the standardized-testing industry), "The Man Who Invented Saturday Morning" (a collection of essays), and "My Usual Game" (about golf). Prior to his position at The New Yorker, Owen was a contributing editor of The Atlantic and a senior writer for Harper’s Magazine. He is also a contributing editor of Golf Digest.
