David Ambroz is an American poverty and child welfare advocate, bestselling author, and Emmy-nominated speaker. Growing up homeless with a mentally ill mother and two siblings, he spent his early years on the streets of Manhattan. At 12, he entered foster care, facing abuse in multiple homes before finding stability with foster parents Holly and Steve.

Despite missing most of K-12 education, he learned to read through library programs, studied abroad in Spain to complete high school, and graduated from Vassar College in 2002, later earning a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. His memoir, “A Place Called Home” (2022), details his journey and won the Nautilus Book Award.
