David Mark Silky Silk is a retired professional ice hockey player from the United States. During his 13-year NHL career, he played 249 regular-season games with the Boston Bruins, Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers.

Silk is most known for being a part of the 1980 United States Men's Hockey Team, which won the gold medal at the Lake Placid Olympics. Mike Milbury, a former NHL player for the Boston Bruins, is his cousin.

Silk left hockey in 1991 to return to his old mater, Boston University, where he worked as an assistant men's hockey coach while studying management at BU.

Silk was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame, the US Olympic Hall of Fame, the Boston University Hall of Fame, Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year, and the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame (NHL + Amateur).

Silk received both an undergraduate and a master's degree in business administration from Boston University and now works as a Director of Institutional Sales in the city. Silk was played by Rick Dano in the 1981 television movie Miracle on Ice. In the 2004 Disney picture Miracle, Bobby Hanson played him.

Hanson attended Boston University, where Silk, Jack O'Callahan, and Mike Eruzione had previously played. Hanson played professional hockey in Europe after college, but his career was cut short due to a knee injury.
