Dara Horn was born in New Jersey in 1977 and graduated from Harvard University with a Ph.D. in comparative literature in 2006, specializing in Hebrew and Yiddish. Dara Horn was named one of Granta magazine's Best Young American Novelists in 2007. In the Image, her debut novel, published by W.W.
Norton when she was 25, won the National Jewish Book Award in 2003, the Edward Lewis Wallant Award in 2002, and the Reform Judaism Fiction Prize in 2003. Her second novel, The World to Come, was released in January 2006 by W.W. Norton and won the 2006 National Jewish Book Award for Fiction, the 2007 Harold U.
