Before signing to Virgin Records Nashville in 2000, Country music artist, Chris Cagle was first known as a songwriter for David Kerch. Cagle released his debut album Play It Loud and his first single My Love Goes On and On, which debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts.
In the United States, the album became certified gold and also produced the Top 10 hits I Breathe In, I Breathe Out, his first No. 1 hit and Laredo. In 2002, his self-titled album Chris Cagle, released on Capitol Records Nashville followed Play It Loud. The album Chris Cagle was certified gold in the U.S.
