Charles Williams Biography

Painter Charles Williams has had paintings shown all across the United States, published in foreign journals, and received prizes from all over the world, but he never forgets where it all began: in a Georgetown high school art classroom. His paintings are highly detailed and generally classical in style, however many of them veer off into more abstract territory at the bottom of the panel. Now, in addition to painting, Williams has discovered a new passion: providing the same type of assistance to young, bright painters in middle and high school that he had as a child. In order to do so, he established the C.E. Williams Collaborative, which has offices in both Charleston and Georgetown. Williams received a portfolio scholarship at Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a degree in graphic design and advertising. He worked in advertising for a while but finally burnt out and returned to painting the landscapes and waterscapes for which he's become famous. He continued his study at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where he received his Master's in Fine Art.
