After his autumn 2005 collection, Time Magazine featured Valvo in a feature piece, noting, "While other designers attempt to shock, Valvo's products sparkle in the marketplace." Valvo started his career as a designer for Nina Ricci in Paris, then moved on to Christian Dior. By 1989, though, he was ready to start his own label.
