Bobby Vee is a pop singer from the United States. Vee has 38 Hot 100 chart successes, ten of which have reached the Top 20 according to Billboard magazine. Bobby Vee, who was born in Fargo, North Dakota, had his first hit with Suzie Baby, an original song he wrote that bowed to Buddy Holly's Peggy Sue. It attracted enough attention and chart movement for Liberty Records to buy it and bring him to their roster. In early 1960, his third song, a version of Adam Faith's UK No. 1 What Do You Want?, peaked in the lower levels of Billboard; however, his fourth record, a revival of the Clovers' doo-wop ballad Devil or Angel, charted in the upper ranges. Take Good Care of My Baby, Vee's summer 1961 single, reached No. 1 on the Billboard US charts and No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart. More Than I Can Say, Run to Him, The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, and Come Back When You Grow Up were among his many international singles in the 1960s. Vee was also a pioneer in the music video genre, having appeared in a number of musical films and the Scopitone series of early film-and-music jukebox records. He was inducted into the North Dakota Roughrider Award in 1999. He was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame for the 235th time in 2011. He is presently residing in the town of Cold Spring, Minnesota. As of 2008, he is still performing and traveling globally with his backup band, The Vees, which includes his two older sons, Jeff and Tommy Vee. Bobby Vee was honored by the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2009. Bobby revealed in April 2012 that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in the early stages a year earlier.
