Barrington Irving is a Jamaican-born American pilot, educator, and explorer. At age 23 in 2007, he became the youngest person and the first Black pilot to fly solo around the world, completing a 24,600-mile journey in his single-engine plane "Inspiration," which he built from donated parts. Raised in inner-city Miami after moving from Kingston, Jamaica, at age six, he shifted from football dreams to aviation after meeting a pilot mentor at 15. He later founded Experience Aviation and Flying Classroom, nonprofit programs that take students on global STEM expeditions, build planes and cars, and inspire careers in science, technology, and aviation. A National Geographic Explorer and recipient of Jamaica’s Order of Distinction, Irving continues promoting hands-on education and workforce development worldwide.
