Annie Leibovitz is an American portrait photographer renowned for her dramatic and intimate celebrity portraits. Her iconic images include the Polaroid of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, taken five hours before Lennon’s 1980 murder, featured on Rolling Stone’s cover. Starting at Rolling Stone in 1970, she became chief photographer by 1973, defining the magazine’s visual style.

She later worked for Vanity Fair (1983–present) and Vogue, photographing figures like Whoopi Goldberg, Barack Obama, and Queen Elizabeth II. She’s received the Library of Congress Living Legend title and was the first woman to exhibit solo at the National Portrait Gallery.
