Amanda Zurawski is an American reproductive rights activist from Austin, Texas. In 2022, at 18 weeks pregnant after fertility treatments, she experienced preterm premature rupture. Texas's abortion ban delayed care because fetal cardiac activity was detected, leading to sepsis, ICU admission, and permanent loss of one fallopian tube. She became lead plaintiff in Zurawski v.

State of Texas (2023), suing alongside 20 women and doctors to clarify the law's medical exceptions. Though the Texas Supreme Court ruled against them in 2024, her case drew national attention to life-threatening gaps in abortion bans. Zurawski testified before the U.S.
