Amanda Gorman is an American poet, activist, and the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. She gained global recognition for her poem “The Hill We Climb,” delivered at President Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration, emphasizing unity and hope. Raised by a single mother, a sixth-grade teacher, Gorman overcame a speech impediment and began writing poetry as a child.
She graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 2020 with a degree in sociology. Her works, including “The Hill We Climb” (2021), “Call Us What We Carry” (2021), and the children’s book “Change Sings” (2021), are New York Times bestsellers.
