Alex S. Vitale is a Visiting Professor at London Southbank University and a Professor of Sociology at Brooklyn College. He is also the Coordinator of the Policing and Social Justice Project. He has spent the last 25 years writing about policing and works with both law enforcement and human rights organizations throughout the world.
He is also a member of the US Commission on Civil Rights' New York State Advisory Committee. Prof. Vitale is the author of The End of Policing and City of Disorder: How the Quality of Life Campaign Transformed New York Politics. Police and Society, Police Practice and Research, Mobilization, and Contemporary Sociology have all published his scholarly articles on policing.
