Alan Deutschman began serving as the Donald W. Reynolds Professor of Business Journalism in January 2011.At The Reynolds School Deutschman has taught courses on business journalism magazine writing and multimedia reporting. He launched a new class on data journalism in Spring 2013. He also created a new course “Narrative: The Art of Storytelling” which he began teaching in Fall 2012.
He hosts the Reynolds Distinguished Visiting Business Journalist program which brings nationally prominent practitioners to our campus including Micheline Maynard the former Detroit bureau chief of the New York Times and Adam Davidson a co-founder of NPR’s Planet Money and business columnist for the New York Times.Over the course of his 24-year career as a journalist he has been the Silicon Valley correspondent forFortune a senior writer at Fast Company the “Profit Motive” columnist for GQ and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and New York Magazine.His articles have been published in New York Times Magazine the Wall Street Journal Wired Newsweek and Salon.com.
