Al Franken

Al Franken is an American comedian and former United States Senator who became a national figure as a sharp-witted satirical writer and performer for Saturday Night Live from 1970 to the 1990s.

Franken grew up in a middle-class Jewish family in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, after moving there from New York as a child. His father was a printing salesman, and his mother was a real estate agent. He attended Harvard University, graduating cum laude in 1973 with a degree in behavioral sciences. At Harvard, he met his future wife, with whom he has two children.
