Inaugural Long Island Event Geared Toward Women Balancing Their Careers and Motherhood
Newsday, one of the nation’s most dynamic media organizations serving the greater New York City area, announced the Working Moms Summit, a unified event taking place June 3, 2026, at its corporate headquarters in Melville, NY. The forum will feature cohesive panel discussions and conversations centered on addressing the challenges of modern parenting while advancing career ambition.
"At Newsday, we understand the unique challenges working moms face every day and especially here on Long Island," said Newsday's Publisher Debby Krenek. "This summit is about creating a space where women can connect, share experiences, and walk away with practical tools to support both their careers and their families."
Event organizers have invited Joan Lunden, a longtime co-host of ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA), author, motivational speaker, and mother of seven. Lunden appeared in living rooms across the country every morning from 1980 to 1997, becoming one of the most trusted and recognizable morning news personalities in the United States.

She has authored over ten books on topics including motherhood, health, and personal reinvention. Earlier this year, she released her memoir “Joan: Life Beyond the Script” (2026) and continues to speak and write about resilience, caregiving, and life after the spotlight.
The event program is designed to equip working mothers with the tools to effectively balance every facet of life. Meeting sessions will cover the mental load, cost of living, and modern parenting challenges, while offering practical strategies for sustainability. Topics also include navigating technology with children, managing office life, and midlife health, reflecting the realities of working mothers today.
