For more than five years, Ms. Campbell directed the Ailey Extension, which she founded, nurtured, and oversaw from the start. California native Ms. Campbell developed a love for dancing while attending the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned degrees in Applied Mathematics and Dramatic Art Dance.
Under the leadership of David Wood, a former Martha Graham rehearsal director, she performed and toured Europe with the university's dance company at Berkeley, where she also received the Eisner Prize, the school's top dance distinction. Ms. Campbell educated three succeeding school administrators while serving as the Ailey School's interim administrator while recovering from a dancing injury.
