Young Thug is the stage name of Atlanta-born rapper, songwriter, and record producer Jeffery Lamar Williams. He is renowned for his distinctive voice style, appearance, and character. He originally gained notoriety through his associations with the artists Rich Homie Shawty Lo and Gucci Mane receive money from Quan Birdman. I Came From Nothing, the first in a series of independent mixtapes created by Young Thug, was released in 2011. He joined Gucci Mane's 1017 Records at the beginning of 2013, and later that year, to much acclaim, he released his label's first mixtape, 1017 Thug. Young Thug gained widespread recognition in 2014 thanks to his appearances on several singles, including About the Money and Lifestyle, as well as the singles Stoner and Danny Glover. He also joined Lyor Cohen's 300 Entertainment that year, and the two of them worked together on the mixtapes VBlack Portland and VRich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1. He put out several mixtapes in 2015, including Barter 6 and two entries in his Slime Season series. The commercial mixtapes Jeffery and I'm Up Slime Season 3 came next in 2016. He issued the promotional mixtape Beautiful Thugger Girls in 2017.
